The majority of the ride is on Gravel Border Road, South Powerline and Wellfield Road.  They are hard surface gravel and mostly smooth.  There are some grassy sections in Oak Cathedral Preserve and the Doe Hammock Trail that connects Oak Cathedral Preserve to South Powerline.  On Doe Hammock just south of South Powerline there is one short muddy section.  See the last picture below.  Remember, "It is always preferable to get off and walk rather than to fall off and have to walk anyway."
